Healthcare systems can be daunting and difficult to navigate. Inequities such as gender or race based discrimination make navigating this systems more difficult and impact the overall health and well being of minorities in a significantly negative way. Many people don't realize that they are being mistreated, or, are too scared to speak up. This blog seeks to empower groups that are being mistreated by the system to raise their voices, and share their stories so that greater awareness is drawn to this ongoing issue. Our goal is to examine these stories from an anthropological lens to understand why certain inequities exist and how social culture can be changed to combat these inequities. We hope to advocate for change to ensure that everyone has access to the healthcare they deserve. Medical inequity is a threat to public health, and we aim to solve this problem one story at a time.
